WHAT SHOULD WE NOT DO TO EAT HEALTHY?

There is a lot of talk about what we should do, suggestions, and information about eating healthy, but I could not come across any content about what should not be done before. Based on what I have read, learned, and experienced, I have prepared a short list of don'ts.

  • Following Strict Dietary Lists

No matter how carefully and delicately the diet lists are prepared, I do not think that they can be applied for a long time. How can it be beneficial for us to copy our diet as if we live the same every day, to set clear lines about what we eat, and to live by the rules? If our only goal is to lose weight fast in an unhealthy way and just save the moment, maybe they can work. In many studies, it has been seen that individuals who lose weight by sticking to strict diet lists gain this weight back more than once. Moreover, the uneasiness and stress we feel about our deteriorated eating behavior and nutrition, which is our most natural need, are also sources of unhappiness in themselves.

  • Thinking of Being Starving as Success of Will

Being hungry and insisting on giving our body what it needs is not an achievement. The longer the hunger period, the stronger our thoughts about food. Even if we suppress these thoughts, our brain stores thoughts in the unconscious. These thoughts, stored in the next feeling of hunger, manifest themselves much more strongly.

  • Relying Too Much on Social Media

It is very easy to reach information now, but it is also easy to reach false information. Anyone without authority shares an opinion. We cannot entrust our health to anyone's unreliable opinion. We should definitely question the source of the information we see. We should also keep in mind that most of the 'ideal body' photos shared may be a hoax. There is no ideal body. Within the limits of health, every body in which we feel peaceful and happy is our ideal. If we are not happy with our body even though it is healthy, we may be indifferent to the influence of external factors on our ideas.

  • Caring Too Much About Others' Opinions

‘If you are on a diet, what is the bread you eat?’, ‘Eat some food and you will be weak!’, ‘I cut carbohydrates and lost weight.’ etc. Have you ever been exposed to meaningless sentences that go on like this? Others cannot decide what is best for your own body. You are the one who knows your feelings, our feelings, whether you are hungry or not. Experts in nutrition are also dietitians; not the people around us. Therefore, there are two reliable people you can cooperate with in terms of healthy eating: One is yourself and the other is your dietitian.

'If we prefer to listen to our body rather than fighting with it, health and peace will come with it.'
